Start where you are
You do not need to memorise every prayer before you begin. Choose a mystery, read its short meditation, and use the written prayers. A decade consists of an Our Father, ten Hail Marys, and a Glory Be, prayed while reflecting on a mystery. It is one part of the five-decade Rosary.
Give your attention somewhere to rest
Look at the artwork or keep a single phrase of Scripture in mind. You do not have to form a vivid mental picture. If the words are unfamiliar, read them slowly and let that be your prayer today.
Leave a welcoming next step
After one decade, you may continue or finish with the Sign of the Cross. Beginning with a decade is a practical suggestion, not a different definition of the complete Rosary. When you are ready, the guided prayer will take you through the opening prayers, all five decades, and the conclusion.
